Mark Schreiber commented on the possibility of Congress passing federal privacy legislation, explaining that “a harmonization or some kind of federal law, no matter where it goes, would almost be better than the current patchwork state of affairs,” Schrieber said. “What companies have seen is that they got through GDPR and other privacy and data security regimes and are still managing and function, so why is it that the U.S. can’t have some predictable federal privacy and data collection statute.”
