Monica Wallace advised health care providers facing an Office of Inspector General (OIG) fraud investigations to engage regulatory or white-collar counsel, “because OIG can sometimes involve [the Department of Justice] and, before you know it, you could be working with the FBI.” Ms. Wallace explained that “sometimes it’s not clear what the investigation is, which is a reason to reach out to counsel to see if they’re in a position to gain more information for you.”
