Where Is Delaware Headed on Unclaimed Property?

Stephen Kranz and Diann Smith participated in a discussion on new Delaware unclaimed property collection legislation that places limits on use of third-party auditors. “You should leave state government employee work to state government employees, not outsource it to third-party contingent fee auditors. Taxpayers … payments should go to fund government, not private parties.” Mr. Kranz asserted. Ms. Smith agreed, noting that “states learn something from performing audits themselves … and to outsource that kind of learning function means that you’re also outsourcing what underlies a lot of the policy decision-making.”
