  • Represents a federally funded captive liability insurer on various matters relating to World Trade Center (WTC) debris-removal liability claims, including the following:
    • Negotiation of landmark, comprehensive settlement with over 10,000 claimants alleging WTC-related injuries
    • Successful pursuit of equitable contribution claims against underlying insurers for reimbursement of defense and indemnity costs
    • Appeals to the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, which reversed in part and vacated in part two district court orders requiring approximately $49 million of additional payments to claimants
