As head of the Firm’s global Trademark Litigation Practice, John Dabney represents companies in trademark, trade dress and unfair competition litigation, as well as in false advertising and copyright litigation. He also counsels clients on the selection, clearance, protection and licensing of trademarks, as well as domain name matters and advertising review and clearance.
Since the start of his career, John has litigated Lanham Act cases in the federal courts and the United States Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. In the past several years, more than a dozen companies from large multi-national corporations to small proprietorships have hired John as lead counsel to pursue or defend Lanham Act claims in federal courts throughout the country. He has served as lead counsel in Lanham Act cases in more than 25 different jurisdictions, including the Eastern District of Virginia, the Southern District of New York and the Northern and Central Districts of California.
John represents companies in many industries, including food and beverage, resort and hotel, medical devices, bio-pharma, health care, consumer electronics, household goods, lawn care, clothing, pet care, financial services, sports and entertainment, publishing and large nonprofit associations.
