Overview
Joshua Domb focuses his practice on a wide range of domestic and international issues involving bribery, corruption, money laundering, tax evasion, and associated regulatory and compliance matters. His practice includes assisting with and advising on internal investigations, Serious Fraud Office (SFO) investigations, enquiries by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), anti-bribery and corruption compliance, whistleblowing, anti-money laundering (AML) issues and tax fraud investigations. He also has experience of acting for gambling companies on a range of compliance matters.
Results
Anti-Bribery & Corruption
- Advising several clients in relation to SFO investigations concerning suspicions of bribery in the oil & gas industry in various jurisdictions throughout the Middle East*
- Acting as counsel to a major investment fund in relation to an SFO raid and investigation concerning a wholly owned subsidiary involved in the fuel distribution and biofuel industries*
- Acting for a leading international media company on a complex, cross-border investigation, concerning multiple serious allegations including potential corruption of public bidding procedures in Brazil, possible anti-trust issues, substantial internal frauds and conflicts of interests and multiple potential internal controls issues*
- Representing one of the world’s largest sporting and gaming companies in an investigation regarding potential fraud and money laundering and potential criminal proceedings by a UK prosecuting agency*
- Advising a former employee of a global oil company in relation to a high profile criminal trial in Italy, and related matters London*
Compliance
- Assisted a global team managing a Department of Justice imposed compliance monitor in relation to a global aircraft manufacturer*
- Seconded to a global cosmetics retailer that was subject to a Department of Justice monitor, with involvement in the Compliance and Global Investigations teams. Had direct conduct of numerous internal investigations in multiple jurisdictions concerning potential breaches of company policy, conflicts of interests and other related matters*
Tax
- Assisted in an internal investigation for a multinational insurance provider into concerns relating to the tax affairs of a senior executive covering multiple jurisdictions including the UK, Ireland, the Isle of Man and the United States*
- Advised an individual in relation to serious allegations of tax fraud and a related investigation by HMRC*
- Advised a quarry on a tax dispute with HM Revenue and customs*
- Advised a national fashion retailer in relation to a national minimum wage investigation being conducted by HMRC*
Gambling
- Assisted in an internal investigation for a major gambling company concerning a former customer convicted of stealing from her employer and allegations by that person of misconduct by the client’s employees*
- Assisted in an internal investigation for a major gambling company in relation to concerns about possible AML failings, and possible related requirements to submit ‘Suspicious Activity Reports’*
- Assisted in a range of anti-money laundering / compliance audits for a number of major gambling companies*
- Advised a quarry on a tax dispute with HM Revenue and customs*
