Overview
Hala Mourad focuses her practice on intellectual property litigation matters in federal district court and the US International Trade Commission. She works with clients to litigate patent cases spanning various technologies including consumer electronics, telecommunications, medical and surgical devices, materials engineering, and biotechnology. She has experience in all phases of litigation from pre-litigation investigations through trial and appeal.
Hala is also a registered patent attorney and has experience in contentious patent proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, including post-grant proceedings under the America Invents Act. Hala has also handled patent prosecution matters, including preparing and prosecuting patent applications related to heavy machinery and data processing technologies before the US Patent and Trademark Office.
In addition, Hala devotes time to pro bono matters, including representing disabled American veterans before the US Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. She has been named to the Capital Pro Bono High Honor Roll.
While in law school, Hala served as an editor of the Georgetown Journal of Law & Modern Critical Race Perspectives. She also taught a practical law course at a local high school as an instructor with the D.C. Street Law High School Clinic at Georgetown University Law Center.
