Overview
Matthias Weingut focuses his practice on private equity and mergers and acquisitions, as well as general corporate law. Matthias advises strategic and financial investors on all corporate aspects of domestic, cross-border and multi-jurisdictional transactions as well as on general corporate matters.
Prior to joining McDermott Will & Emery, Matthias worked for another international law firm in Munich and Frankfurt. As part of his legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court of Munich, he worked for the legal department of the Siemens AG.

- Advising Penta Investments on its integration of copperING GmbH and copperING srl, portfolio companies of Ceterum Holding into Gehring group, a global automotive supplier held by Penta Investments
- Advising Gimv and certain individual shareholders, including CEO Armin Pohl, on their disposal of Mackevision group, a market leader in Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) with offices in Germany, the US, the UK, South Korea, China and Japan to Accenture
- Advising Gimv on its acquisition of WEMAS Group, a leading provider of certified passive mobile road safety equipment from Nord Holding, including on the implementation of a management participation program and the (subsequent) co-investment with Paragon Partners
- Advised Ionisos SAS, a French portfolio company of private equity house Ardian and a leading provider of sterilization services in France and Spain on its acquisition of LEONI Studer Hard GmbH from LEONI AG
- Advised ESO Capital in the context of several debt-investments
- Advised the majority shareholders of Medi-Globe group, a leading producer of medical devices focused on minimally invasive surgery in gastroenterology and urology on the disposal of Medi-Globe group to a consortium led by the UK private equity fund Duke Street
- Advises Camfil Holding GmbH on its acquisition of Handte Group, which consists of entities in Germany and subsidiaries in Switzerland, the Czech Republic and China
- Advises Bilfinger Venture Capital on its investment in Klaren International B.V. in the course of a series-A financing round
- Advises PHI Industrial Acquisitions, a Madrid-based private investment firm, on the purchase of Escalade, Incorporated’s information security business, which included the German operation Intimus International GmbH
- Advises a US Fortune 100 company on its intended acquisition of a German manufacturer
- Advises Stoba Holding in relation to its set-up of a Chinese subsidiary
