McDermott Extends International Tax Leadership with New Latin American Capabilities

Overview

International law firm McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that Manuel Rajunov has joined the Firm as a partner in the Tax practice group. He will be based in the Dallas office where he will leverage his Latin American experience to benefit the Firm’s global client base.

“Our global clients want to access markets and develop investment strategies across Latin America. Manuel’s experience with international transactions – from Mexico City to Tel Aviv – bolsters the Firm’s ability to meet these needs and increases our ability to counsel Latin American clients, particularly those from Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Peru, on their US investment strategies. Adding a professional with Manuel’s skillset underscores the Firm’s commitment to supporting the tax objectives of the multinational clients we serve,” said Jane Wells May, global head of McDermott’s Tax practice.

Manuel focuses his practice on international tax consulting and transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and securities, and foreign investments. He counsels Latin American-based companies and investors on their global investment strategies to optimize investment-generating revenue streams, and North American, European and Asian investment groups on their Latin America-related investments and tax restructurings. He also advises Israel-based companies on their investments in Latin America. Throughout the last two decades, Manuel has acted as lead tax counsel for real estate developers, high net worth individuals, privately-held businesses, corporations, retailers and technology powerhouses, among others.

“McDermott’s tax group is unequalled, with a talented team that regularly exceeds clients’ ever-changing needs. I am delighted for the opportunity to join this global platform and execute on the fantastic potential to expand the Firm’s Latin America practice,” added Manuel.

Manuel earned his Juris Doctor from Universidad Iberoamericana and received a Bachelor of Art from Instituto Mexico. He is listed in The Legal 500 Private Practice Powerlist (2018, 2019), The Legal 500 United States (Texas – U.S. Taxes – Non-Contentious, 2018), The Best Lawyers in America – Mexico Real Estate (2019), and Chambers USA (Award for Excellence, Real Estate, 2017). Manuel is a registered foreign legal consultant in Texas and admitted to practice in Mexico.

Prior to joining McDermott, Manuel was partner in Greenberg Traurig LLP’s Latin American practice, specializing in tax and transactional consulting.
