Kevin Spencer said the status of IRS compliance assurance process (CAP) real-time audits is a “real mystery” and that “even the CAP teams do not know what the status is of the program … and where it is going.” Jean Pawlow added that the IRS has largely framed the reevaluation of CAP as an issue of limited resources, but she said that raises the question, “Are you suggesting that you’re going to take people away from CAP audits and use those resources somewhere else?”
