CHICAGO (December 23, 2016) – Tom Jones, partner in McDermott’s US & International Tax Practice has been named one of the leading individuals in the Captive Review Hall of Fame.
Captive Review has published, for the first time, an industry-wide Hall of Fame recognising the most influential individuals the captive insurance industry has produced, or been served by, over the past 50 years. The thirteen inductees this year are made up of nine Americans, three from the United Kingdom and one from Continental Europe.
Mr. Jones was described as “an invaluable aid to giant multinationals and American domestic companies on all things captive concerning both state and federal tax. He is respected and trusted across the US captive industry. (…) His contribution and commitment across a range of North American and Caribbean domiciles will leave a lasting impact. Tom Jones advises clients on federal and state tax, insurance regulatory and legal matters concerning captive insurance and other alternatives to commercial insurance. He counsels multinational corporations, private businesses, taxable and exempt health care providers, trade associations, joint ventures, government instrumentalities, labor unions and enterprises of all types.
He has extensive transactional experience in major US and offshore captive insurance jurisdictions, including Arizona, the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Nevada, South Carolina, Texas and Vermont, as well as Barbados, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands. A frequent guest speaker at international seminars and conferences, Mr. Jones makes numerous offshore and onshore presentations on captive insurance and related topics.
