London (April 25, 2016) – International law firm McDermott Will & Emery announced today that it has added Piero Carbone as a partner in its dynamically growing Corporate practice in London. He joins from Duane Morris where he was a partner. Prior to that, he spent five years at Kirkland & Ellis, four of which as partner.
Mr. Carbone focuses on fund formation and cross-border corporate transactions, particularly in the area of private equity. He advises private equity firms on a variety of transactions, including venture investments, buy-and-build transactions, mid-market and large leveraged buyouts and public-to-privates. Mr. Carbone also advises fund managers on multi-jurisdictional fund raisings.
His clients include U.S. and European private equity firms and fund managers. He also helps clients with both private and public M&A work, corporate reorganizations, joint ventures and share issuances. Mr Carbone serves clients from a variety of industries, including financial services, real estate, technology, hospitality and fashion.
Mr. Carbone speaks and writes about private equity and corporate law around the world. He currently lectures at the International University of Monaco and the School of Management at the Politecnico di Milano. He has also taught comparative law at the University of Naples “Federico II.” Mr. Carbone authored and co-authored several industry publications including “Introduction to the Main Aspects of Private Equity Transactions”, “Introduction to the Study of English Law” as well as “UK Finance Act 2015 — Royal Assent Received” and “UK Finance Bill – Key Points”. In 2015 he received Meritorious Service Award from the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG).
Mr. Carbone is a qualified solicitor of England and Wales and a qualified Italian lawyer, “Avvocato.” He speaks Italian, English, French, Spanish and Swedish.
Expanding on this key appointment, the McDermott Corporate practice in London will be announcing other significant new lateral hires in the next few months.
