James Moran Jr. joins McDermott as a senior legislative adviser. As the only former member of Congress at the Firm, he positions McDermott to have closer ties with the House appropriations committee. “I have as many close relationships with Republicans as I do with Democrats,” Mr. Moran said concerning the bipartisan nature of his planned practice. “There’s a lot of mutual respect on committees with that.” Stephen Ryan, head of McDermott’s government strategies group, noted its strong 2014 revenue in congressional-investigations work and the creation of subsidiary McDermott+Consulting as key positives.
