Catherine Battin applauded proposed Illinois Department of Revenue rules to halt small-stakes whistle-blower claims against Internet retailers, citing the Department’s “growing frustration” with cases that have little impact for the state. “The problem is, it was too little, too late,” Ms. Battin added. “There were more than 200 cases filed on shipping and handling charges and the bulk of those cases have already settled. So this would have been helpful quite some time ago.”
