Daniel Gottlieb agreed with a new Office of Inspector General (OIG) report that it would be “helpful to the provider community” to receive government guidance on whether and how copy-and-paste capabilities apply to health care records. Mr. Gottlieb noted that “in my practice I regularly review questions from providers wanting to know if copy and paste is okay. On the one hand it saves them a lot of time and cost; on the other hand it creates the risk of fraud. Having guidance would be enormously helpful so you have something to point to for dos and don’ts.”
