New Tax Will Hit Some Nonprofit Hospitals More than Others

Michael Peregrine said “there is an unfairness” about what he called the “machine-gun approach” the new tax law took to raising income taxes on executives of certain nonprofit hospitals. As a result, Ralph DeJong added, some hospital systems are debating whether to consolidate employees from different entities onto one payroll to minimize the number of employees subject to the tax, which he called “a cost of doing business.”
