McDermott Will & Emery is proud to announce that it has been named among the Top Ten Firms for Gender Equity in 2019 by Yale Law Women. The annual report also recognizes McDermott for its generous caregiver leave policy and success in ensuring women make up at least 35 percent of the members of its executive, compensation and hiring committees.
Yale Law Women assessed the representation of women among firm structure as well as in leadership and promotions and firms’ commitment to equitable training and mentorship to compile the Gender Equity list. In 2017, McDermott launched its annual Women’s Summit to provide a forum for frank discussions about the challenges women face in the legal industry and to surface actionable solutions to address them. The Firm also offers targeted coaching and mentoring programs for women lawyers and works to find opportunities to support professional women’s organizations and offer pro bono services to organizations focused on women’s issues.
McDermott has been recognized consistently for its progressive policies and programs that enable the Firm to recruit, retain and promote diverse lawyers. This year, the Firm earned its 13th consecutive perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index for its inclusive work environment and equality of opportunity for all employees. McDermott has also been recognized by Working Mother as among the “Best Law Firms for Women.”
