Überblick
Emilie O’Toole focuses her practice on various commercial litigation matters, including white collar and securities defense matters, product liability actions, and class actions. She represents clients in both federal and state courts across the country. She has experience trying cases in federal court, arguing before the Seventh Circuit, and arguing and drafting a variety of motions in both state and federal court.
Emilie maintains an active pro bono practice in several areas, including immigration, wrongful convictions, child advocacy, and civil rights. In 2021, she was named a Rising Star by the National Immigrant Justice Center for her work representing a non-citizen stepchild to obtain legal immigration status under the Violence Against Women Act after she was abused by her U.S. citizen stepfather.
While in law school, Emilie was the editor in chief of the Northwestern Journal of Law & Social Policy and served as a judicial intern for the Hon. Jeffrey T. Gilbert of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Prior to law school, Emilie worked in issue advocacy communications with a focus on education policy.
