Brazil’s LGPD Gains Some Teeth: A Review of the New Rules That May Affect Your Business

Overview

In February 2023, the Brazilian National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) published the rules for the application of sanctions and the methodology for calculating fines for violation of their General Data Protection Law (LGPD). With the publication of these rules, companies can now face penalties for events that have occurred since September 18, 2020, when LGPD came into force.

Join us for a joint webinar as we review the sanctions established in these rules and what organizations should be doing to protect themselves from ANPD actions.

McDermott’s Global Privacy & Cybersecurity team is pleased to host this webinar jointly with experienced personal data protection lawyers from the Daniel firm in Brazil. Topics will include:

  • The LGPD violations that were identified in the new rules and the severity of the infractions for companies
  • When sanctions will be established and what enforcement actions will follow
  • Preventative and corrective actions that companies can implement now
