Overview
A. Marisa Chun participated in California Lawyer’s 2017 White Collar Defense Roundtable, in which government enforcement experts discussed the Trump administration’s white-collar regulatory and enforcement priorities, health care fraud, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), and other timely topics. Despite some shifts in enforcement priorities from the prior administration, Ms. Chun predicted that the Trump Administration will continue to emphasize prosecuting fraud, False Claims Act (FCA), and Economic Espionage Act violations. “Attorney General Sessions gave some hints during his confirmation hearing that he would be working even more closely with Congress to provide more transparency” on FCA proceedings, Ms. Chun noted, adding that companies “should not be lulled into thinking that this administration is just going after, say, violent crime. They should remain vigilant.”
