Overview

International law firm McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce April E. Weisbruch has joined the Firm as an Intellectual Property partner. April joins an active team in Washington, DC, where her IP litigation experience will benefit the Firm’s global client base.

“Clients come to McDermott because our team understands there is value to add at every stage of the IP lifecycle and April understands this approach as well,” said Nicole Jantzi, leader of the Firm’s Global Intellectual Property Practice. “April’s technical background in life science and high-tech patent litigation strengthens our trial team further solidifying McDermott’s ability to achieve favorable results for clients.”

April focuses her practice on all aspects of intellectual property, including large scale patent litigation and counseling. She represents clients in all phases of IP litigation and has extensive experience in the life science and high-tech industries.

“My practice will immediately benefit from the strength of McDermott’s superior reputation in IP and international platform. I’m thrilled to be joining this diverse, passionate team and I’m excited to dive in and contribute immediately,” added April.

Prior to joining McDermott, April worked in Sheppard Mullin’s and Goodwin Proctor’s intellectual property practice. She received her BS in Biochemistry from Furman University and her JD from Harvard Law School.

McDermott’s IP group was recently honored for the tenth consecutive year by World Trademark Review 1000, the only standalone publication that recommends individual practitioners and their firms exclusively in the trademark field. IP partners Sarah Chapin Columbia and Henrik Holzapfel were recently named among IAM’s first-ever “Global Leaders” recognizing patent law professionals who have gone above and beyond catering to clients’ needs. The 2019 IAM Patent 1000 awarded the Firm’s IP practice group with silver and bronze placements across the US and Germany, as well as more than a dozen individual lawyer recommendations, demonstrating its deep bench strength.
