Michael Peregrine called new HHS guidance for healthcare boards on director oversight of compliance programs “limited in its ability to address the more complex issues … because it seeks to address a broad cross section of health care providers.” However, Mr. Peregrine added that the guidance “does serve as a valuable reminder of the board’s critical compliance oversight obligation,” which he called “a very hot topic.’’
