“From the government’s perspective, a strong urging from the bench that jurors should not talk about deliberations is welcome,” said Edward Diskant of McDermott Will & Emery LLP, who prosecuted basketball corruption cases in front of Judge Kaplan before moving to private practice. “To the extent they can so instruct jurors, consistent with the law, I would imagine that judges generally share the government’s perspective — very little good can come from jurors talking with the media.”
