Overview
Briana focuses her practice on litigation and dispute resolution. She is experienced in representative proceedings and class actions (for both plaintiffs and defendants), commercial disputes, securities litigation, insurance and general civil litigation. She has appeared in the High Court of New Zealand.
Prior to joining McDermott, Briana was an associate at a New Zealand law firm, where she was involved in all aspects of commercial litigation.

- Acted for two private equity defendants in a long running class action regarding disclosure in an initial public offering*
- Acted for a New Zealand Crown entity in defending a multi-million dollar representative proceeding*
- Acted for two representative plaintiffs in preparing and filing a representative proceeding in relation to combustible external wall cladding*
- Successfully represented a sovereign wealth fund in judicial review proceedings regarding ESG issues*
- Advised two joint lead managers regarding their position in relation to a securities representative proceeding following an initial public offering*
- Acted for an international investment management company in an expert determination regarding disputed earnout and working capital price adjustment clauses in a share purchase agreement*
- Acted for a trustee company in its role as the administrator of a NZD$200m estate in seven concurrent proceedings*
