Overview
Raymond (Ray) A. Jacobsen, Jr., advises clients on mergers, acquisitions and complex antitrust litigation. He has significant experience in the defense, medical devices, biotech, consumer product, energy and health care industries. Ray is the global head of McDermott’s Antitrust Practice and serves on the Management Committee.
Over the past 30 years, Ray has successfully defended more than 200 complex mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures in the United States, Europe and the Far East for clients such as Amgen, Constellation Brands, Diageo, Health Management Associates, Medtronic, NutraSweet Company, Blackboard, Lockheed Martin and Martin Marietta.
Results
- Represented Rochester General Health System and Unity Health System, successfully securing Federal Trade Commission (FTC) approval in the merger of two or the three hospitals in Rochester, New York
- Defended Amgen in a monopolization case, defeating preliminary injunction seeking to enjoin a bundled discount arrangement on pharmaceuticals (Ortho Biotech v. Amgen (D.N.J.))
- Defended in alleged monopolization of US launch vehicle market (Lockheed Martin Corp. v. Boeing Co. (N.D. Fla.))
- Defended in alleged price-fixing of molybdenum (Erie Forge v. Cyprus Minerals Co. (W.D. Pa.))
