Overview
Ashwin Sivakumar, PhD* focuses his practice on patent prosecution in the field of biotechnology, biomedical engineering, medical devices and life sciences. He also counsels clients in IP matters involving pre-litigation patent assessments, IP due diligence and freedom to operate analysis.
Ashwin received his MS and PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University. His research was focused on the creation of an engineered ‘nerve-on-a-chip’ model that can act as a testing platform for pharmacological and pathological testing using electrophysiological testing. Ashwin also co-founded and ran a startup, Flux Diagnostics LLC, which was focused on the creation of handheld rapid diagnostics devices for viral testing. He is the recipient of multiple awards that include the NSF I-Corps Award for Market Research (2016). Victor C. Alvarez Spark Innovation Award (2015), and New Day Challenge Innovation Award (2015).
In addition, he has authored and presented numerous scientific publications in the fields of neuroscience, tissue engineering and biomedical engineering.
