Mara Theophila focuses her practice on litigating complex commercial disputes before state and federal courts. She has experience drafting civil complaints and dispositive motions, managing large-scale discovery processes, and participating in depositions and evidentiary hearings. Mara counsels clients in various industries, including pharmaceutical and medical device, financial services, telecommunications, manufacturing and the arts.
Mara also represents clients in government and internal investigations involving matters arising under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, economic sanctions and securities enforcement. Mara maintains an active pro bono practice, including representation of non-profit organizations, and visa and asylum applicants.
Mara previously served as a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Jane R. Roth of the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and for the Honorable Paul A. Crotty of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. While in law school, Mara was an associate editor for the Fordham Law Review and editor-in chief for the Fordham Moot Court Board.
