No Fooling: Companies Fret Over New .Sucks Domain


Joanne Ludovici said that “.sucks,” latest domain name to roll out as part of an overall expansion of the Internet, is “making companies very uneasy. I’m seeing more than the typical amount of corporate agita.” The concern is caused by the new domain’s pricing structure, which is so high it could discourage companies from making pre-emptive purchases of the domain name in connection with their brand identities. “The payment scheme feels like opportunistic extortion,” Ms. Ludovici said.
