Amella earned her law degree from the University of Michigan Law School, where she served as the managing editor for the Michigan Journal of Gender and Law and as a comments editor for the Michigan Business & Entrepreneurial Law Review. While in law school, Amella advocated on behalf of indigent clients at the Michigan Criminal Appellate Practice Clinic, seeking the reversal of criminal convictions or the reduction of unwarranted sentences.
Prior to law school, Amella worked in assurance services at a leading global professional services firm.
