Romain Perray authored the chapter “Smart Cities Challenged by Personal Data Protection” in this collective work, compiled through research carried out by academics, researchers, lawyers and experts. The analysis presents case studies pertaining to urban open data projects in France as well as in Europe (Italy, Belgium and Greece), and also provides answers to legal questions relating to the ownership of urban data and their interaction with smart cities around normative, regulatory and new forms of soft law issues.
