“Forward-thinking energy companies and stakeholders will be scrutinising the Government’s carbon capture policies; it’s clear that new oil and gas exploration licences on their own are fraught with political risk vis-à-vis next year’s election, however, the carbon capture element of today’s announcement will be an issue that both sides of the spectrum are forced to agree on. From an investor perspective, it then becomes a question of exactly how much support will the next Labour or Conservative government provide to carbon capture projects.”
