McDermott Meets Growing Demand in Debt Financing with Addition of Two Leading Finance Partners in London

Overview

McDermott Will & Emery continues to invest in expanding its Transactional practice with the addition of finance partners, Mark Fine and Aymen Mahmoud, in its London office.

“Mark and Aymen are an impressive combination, with deep and broad debt financing experience that is in demand from our international and domestic clients. Previous global crises have proven that the firms who perform best during and after such times maintain a strong client-focus and continue to make strategic acquisitions – bringing such high-caliber partners on board at this time is a clear sign of our commitment to targeted growth. Mark and Aymen’s focus further advances our finance proposition following the recent appointment of structured finance partner, Ranajoy Basu, and we aim to build this capability in London further. In addition, these latest appointments will complement our private equity and M&A practices by enhancing our strong special situations and acquisition finance offering, which is critical to winning mandates in London and around the world”, said Hamid Yunis, Managing Partner of the Firm’s London office.

“McDermott’s commitment to expand the Transactions practice in London was compelling, and the opportunity to play a significant role in growing the finance team is exciting. In addition, the Firm has a reputation for being a great place to work, with an open and collegiate environment focused on providing the highest level of client service”, said Mark Fine.

“I am thrilled to be joining McDermott and look forward to working with colleagues in the finance and related teams in London and around the globe. The Firm and its transactional practice’s recent trajectory is highly impressive and there will be great synergies with our client base in its many guises,” added Aymen Mahmoud.

Building on momentum in London

“We have been experiencing increasing client demand across our London practices, and we continue to invest in Corporate, Private Equity, Healthcare & Life Sciences, Infrastructure, Private Client and Litigation. This has resulted in recent high-caliber appointments, including Andrea Best, Tom Whelan, Fergus Gallagher, Ranajoy Basu and Anthony Fine, and we will invest further in building on our strengths, and adapt our offering, as our clients’ needs evolve”, added Hamid.
