Overview
London (15 September, 2016) – McDermott London has been recommended as a leading law firm in The Legal 500 UK 2016 receiving eight Firm rankings, with 17 lawyers recommended. McDermott has moved up to Tier 1 in Corporate and Commercial: M&A: mid-market and to Tier 2 in Private client – Contentious trusts and probate.
Additionally, eight lawyers are newly recommended and three lawyers continue to be listed as elite “Leading Lawyers”. The results in this year’s Legal 500 UK reflect the recent growth of the Firm’s London office in line with its strategy of boosting its Transactions and Private Client capabilities. McDermott London is currently experiencing a phase of robust expansion with a spate of new appointments in its Transactions and Private Client practices.
McDermott is Tier 1 and Tier 2 ranked in the following areas:
- Corporate Advisory team is recommended as a ‘first-class’ department and moves up to Tier 1 in Corporate and Commercial: M&A – mid-market, £50m-£250m.
- Private Client team is ‘going from strength to strength’ and continues to improve the rankings moving up to Tier 2 in Private Client – Contentious Trusts and Probate, and holds Tier 2 ranking in Private Client – Personal Tax, Trusts and Probates. The team is described as ‘one of the top firms for transatlantic tax planning’.
- Energy Advisory team holds Tier 2 ranking in Finance – Commodities: Physicals, for the fifth consecutive year.
- Private Equity team is described as ‘technically excellent’ and holds Tier 2 ranking in Corporate and Commercial: Private Equity: Transactions: Mid Cap Deal Capability, since entering the ranking tables four years ago.
