The Paris financing team, led by Pierre-Arnoux Mayoly, is delighted to welcome new Counsel Aurélien Jugand.
Aurélien joins McDermott from Simmons & Simmons LLP [where he held the same position] and his arrival expands our Paris financing team, which was created in 2015. Over the course of his career, Aurélien has worked very closely with a number of French and international banks, developing close relationships with key players on the market. He has significant experience in corporate and acquisition financing (particularly in the context of leveraged transactions) on behalf of lenders.
Aurélien advises banks, investment funds and debt funds. He also acts on an ad hoc basis for French and international borrowers, assisting with their acquisition, project, or asset financing operations.

About Aurélien Jugand
Aurélien Jugand, 40, began his career at Société Générale in 2007 before joining the legal sector, joining Ayache (2011-2013). He then became part of the financing team at Reed Smith (2013-2017) before being promoted to Counsel in the financial markets practice of Simmons & Simmons (2017-2021).
Aurélien holds a Master II in Private Law from the Jean Monnet University (Paris XI – Sceaux), a Specialized Master in International Business Law and Management from ESSEC Business School and an LLB from the University of London International Programmes.
Aurélien has been a member of the Paris Bar since 2011.
About the Paris Financing Team
McDermott’s financing team is a key player in the French market for structured leverage financings and leads the market for equity bridge financings in France and more widely in Europe.
The team works closely with the Firm’s corporate and tax teams on acquisition financings, advising the largest French and international banks in the fund financing market.
The team advises a wide range of borrowers and lenders, from private companies to publicly traded companies, private equity funds and their portfolio companies, as well as leading financial institutions and debt funds.
Recently, the financing team has worked with:
- a consortium of five banks financing of the BPI “Lac I” (over EUR 1 billion) ;
- HIG Whitehorse on the implementation of a EUR 200 million unitranche financing financed by the Astek Group; or
- Naxicap on the negotiation of bond financing of approximately EUR300 million for the acquisition of the Lagarrigue Group. Finance was provided by debt funds Ardian Private Debt and CIC Private Debt.
