International law firm McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that partner and head of the Firm’s pro bono and community service efforts Elizabeth Lewis has been elected co-president of the Association of Pro Bono Counsel (APBCo) for the 2022 and 2023 terms.
Elizabeth’s unyielding commitment to pro bono work makes her the ideal candidate to assume the role of co-president of APBCo. As McDermott’s Pro Bono and Community Service Partner, Elizabeth works closely with stakeholders to define the Firm’s programmatic mission, identify strategies for growth and launch global pro bono and community service initiatives. Elizabeth also regularly collaborates with nonprofit organizations on legal clinics, community service events and other opportunities for social impact.
Elizabeth’s new role as co-president will illustrate to clients our commitment to pro bono and continue the Firm’s mission to expand our efforts to support those in need. “The opportunity to collaborate with stakeholders across the legal industry to serve those in need will help us foster key relationships. Through a shared common passion for the importance of pro bono activity within big law firms, this work forges connections in a way that is simply not achievable through standard business practices,” Elizabeth said.
APBCo is a non-profit group established in 2006 as an organization for attorneys and practice group managers who run pro bono practices full-time. It focuses its practice on bringing together lawyers from over 100 firms to find legal solutions to pressing pro bono matters, including COVID-related unemployment, evictions and immigration crises. Elizabeth has been a member of APBCo since 2015 and was elected to the board of directors in 2020.
