Senior DOJ Lawyer Joins McDermott’s “Global Elite” Antitrust Practice

WASHINGTON, DC (January 30, 2017) — McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to welcome Mary Strimel to the Firm’s Washington, DC office as a partner in the Antitrust Practice Group.

Ms. Strimel joins McDermott from the Antitrust Division of the US Department of Justice (DOJ) where she served as Chief of one of two Antitrust Criminal Enforcement sections in Washington, DC. In this role, she led a group of DOJ attorneys who investigated and litigated cases involving price-fixing, bid-rigging, contract fraud, and other white collar crimes. Prior to becoming Section Chief, Ms. Strimel served in the Antitrust Division’s Networks and Technology Enforcement Section where she investigated and litigated proposed mergers across various sectors, including, but not limited to: alcoholic beverages, computer software, consumer products, financial services, government procurement, tax services, and telecommunications. Earlier in her career, Ms. Strimel spent several years in private practice at a class action firm where she managed a nationwide docket of multi-jurisdictional matters.

Ms. Strimel is joining McDermott’s highly-ranked antitrust practice, which, for the fifth consecutive year was listed among the “Global Elite” top twenty-five antitrust firms by Global Competition Review. She will be practicing alongside McDermott’s group of antitrust lawyers who consistently receive top rankings in various publications including: Chambers, The Legal 500, Benchmark Litigation, and Best Lawyers in America.

Ms. Strimel is also joining an expanding DC office. Ms. Strimel received her JD from Harvard Law School.
