Overview
Greer Griffith focuses her practice on representing clients in civil and criminal government enforcement matters, internal investigations and complex commercial litigation. Greer is skilled at managing crises and protecting her clients’ reputations, enabling her to act as a trusted advisor to clients navigating complex and sensitive matters. She specializes in representing clients in the healthcare, academic, FinTech and cryptocurrency industries.
Greer regularly represents clients accused of healthcare fraud and abuse, including violations of the False Claims Act (FCA), the Anti-Kickback Statute (AKS) and the Physician Self-Referral Law (Stark Law). She also counsels clients on compliance issues and works with them to develop and implement compliance programs.
Greer co-leads the Firm’s Institutional Sexual Misconduct Response Team (SMRT), which specializes in handling all aspects of sexual miscondusct investigations, litigation and Title IX matters involving allegations of sexual assault, abuse and misconduct. She is certified by the Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA) to conduct Title IX investigations.
Greer is the New York Summer Associate Program Chair. She maintains an active pro bono practice, which includes being part of a team appointed by the Massachusetts Governor to conduct an independent investigation of a deadly COVID-19 outbreak at a veterans’ home. Greer also is accredited by the US Department of Veterans Affairs and represents military veterans in connection with VA disability claims and appeals.
Prior to joining McDermott, Greer clerked for the Honorable Norma Levy Shapiro in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

- Represented religious entities sued in connection with the New York Child Victims Act
- Obtained dismissals of clients from actions in pre-discovery stages of litigation and favorable findings in investigations involving allegations of sexual assault, abuse, and misconduct
- Successfully represented and defended individuals and institutions in healthcare fraud, False Claims Act (FCA) violations, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) violations, and insider trading matters in connection with federal and state government investigations
- Conducted internal investigations on behalf of clients in response to healthcare fraud, compliance, abuse, and sexual misconduct allegations
- Obtained complete dismissal of a criminal indictment against a healthcare company
- Conducted an independent investigation of a state-run long-term care facility as a member of the McDermott team retained by the Governor of Massachusetts, which resulted in a public report and substantial policy changes
- Represented the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in litigation in connection with the Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings of Centric Brands, Inc., a publicly traded international lifestyle brand collective, including negotiating a material recovery for general unsecured creditors
- Represented a major accounting firm in tax services agreement negotiations with federally recognized Indian tribes
- Secured a multimillion-dollar global settlement resolving a lengthy cross-border inheritance dispute
