Michael J. Tang focuses his practice on assisting business owners and high net worth individuals with income, gift and estate tax planning, probate and trust administration, wealth preservation and charitable giving. Michael has experience drafting estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, healthcare directives, and powers of attorney; documenting wealth transfer transactions; and preparing estate and gift tax returns. Prior to joining McDermott, Michael served as Tax Counsel for a Fortune 200 company, where he advised on the tax consequences of joint ventures involving foreign individual investors and private equity funds. In addition, Michael worked previously as an international tax associate at a Big Four accounting firm, where he handled tax planning for high net worth families, partnerships, limited liability companies, multinational corporations, and real estate investment trusts.

Michael holds a Tax LL.M. from New York University School of Law and received his J.D. from Chapman University, Fowler School of Law, where he was a recipient of the Professionalism Award for his representation of the law in the legal profession and to the larger community. He also holds a B.S. in Finance from the University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business.
