Overview


Tom Ryan is a 30-year veteran of the Firm. Tom’s practice focuses on healthcare litigation.

Tom currently represents healthcare providers in mass tort litigation involving claims of institutional negligence and fraudulent concealment. These cases often involve allegations of violation of healthcare regulations. These cases are typically brought as class actions or coordinated/consolidated cases behind designated lead bellwether cases. Tom also represents healthcare providers in unfair business practices cases (including so-called 17200 cases, antitrust cases and False Claims Act cases). These cases typically also involve allegations of violations of federal or state healthcare regulations.

Results


  • Co-counsel to the University of Southern California concerning litigation in the United States District Court in Los Angeles, litigation in the Superior Court in Los Angeles and ongoing governmental investigations involving alleged misconduct at the University’s Student Health Center (In re Student Health Center Litigation and Doe v. Tyndall, et al.)
  • Co-counsel to the University of New Mexico in a class action in state court asserting alleged misconduct in the University’s pediatric cancer program (Cummings et al. v. Regents of the University of New Mexico)
  • Co-counsel to the University of California concerning litigation in the California Superior Court for the County of Orange involving alleged misconduct at the University of California Irvine Reproductive Health Center (Asch v. Regents of the University of California)
