The webcast will focus on issues arising under European data protection law. We will cover best practices for preparing for the May 2018 enforceability of EU’s General Data Protection Regulation. We also will discuss GDPR’s broad application to US companies doing business in Europe; its onerous penalty provisions; its new requirements for data breaches involving EU personal data; and its provisions dealing with cross-border data transfers, the appointment of data protection officers, and rights of data subjects. We also will discuss self-certification of compliance with the Privacy Shield Principles and effective implementation strategies and tools.
