Sustainability and ESG issues are currently at the top of the political agenda. The corresponding extensive European regulation particularly affects regulated financial market participants such as insurance companies and fund managers. However, the pressure for action towards sustainability is also passed on to unregulated market participants in the real estate industry. Real estate asset managers and others are therefore confronted with the challenge to take action. This article covers proposals for the implementation of ESG strategies and other contractual measures for real estate asset managers.
