McDermott Expands Its Dispute Resolution Capabilities with Senior Appointment in Milan

Overview

International law firm McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce the appointment of Fabio Cozzi as partner and head of its Milan litigation practice. Responding to an increased demand for dispute resolution advice, Fabio brings extensive domestic and international arbitration, compliance, cross-border litigation, international trade and financial crime and sanctions experience.

“The need for first-class dispute resolution services continues to grow in Italy and around the world as our clients become increasingly international and as economic and global trade increase the number and complexity of commercial disputes,” said Steven Scholes, global head of McDermott’s litigation practice. “This trend will only increase as distressed businesses require assistance and more clients need help with resolving supply chain and contractual issues.”

“Milan’s position as a leading economic hub and a centre of excellence for national and international disputes continues to strengthen, and Fabio will bring great experience to help meet our growing client demand for disputes and investigations advice,” commented Giancarlo Castorino, McDermott’s Milan managing partner. “Fabio’s wide-ranging experience will be invaluable to our clients and complement our other practices in Milan and across the Firm.”

Fabio has extensive experience in a wide range of cross-border judicial proceedings within the remits of civil law, corporate law, banking and finance across a spectrum of industries, including energy, real estate, financial services and technology.

Fabio also advises multinational companies and financial institutions on compliance and international trade issues, as well as issues relating to financial crime and internal investigations.

Fabio added, “I am very pleased to join McDermott, a global multipractice capability Firm, with outstanding arbitration, white-collar and international trade experts, as well as a collaborative culture that provides an excellent platform for us to advise our clients, whether local or international.”

Fabio has been recognised as a “Next Generation Partner” 2021-2023 and a “Leading Individual Legal 500” by The Legal 500 (EMEA) and as a “Rising Star” by Expert Guides 2022. He was also a finalist in Top Legal’s “Best Lawyer of the Year 2020 – Dispute Resolution.”

Fabio is the latest addition to the Firm’s global litigation practice after the recent arrival of Partners Nicolette Kost De Sèvres and Amy Frey in Paris, Jack Thorne in London, James Durkin in Chicago, Richard Salgado and David Genender in Dallas, Joel Haims in New York and Jonathan Henry in Washington, DC.

McDermott’s Milan practice provides effective, coordinated legal counsel to clients across a broad array of legal issues, including helping Italian clients expand their operations and investments outside national borders and working with international companies looking to enter the Italian market.
