McDermott represents Nidec Corporation on its Joint Venture with Peugeot Group in France

PARIS (January 3, 2018) – McDermott Will & Emery has represented Japanese firm Nidec Corporation, the world’s leading manufacturer of electric motors, on its joint venture agreement (JVA) with the Peugeot Group. Peugeot is Europe’s second largest manufacturer of cars and motorcycles and sells under the Peugeot, Citroen, DS, Opel and Vauxhall brands. The joint venture, which will be located in France, was agreed through Nidec’s French subsidiary, Nidec Leroy Somer, which was acquired at the beginning of the year and employs more than 2,500 people.
McDermott’s team was led by partners Jacques Buhart and Jonathan Wohl and included intellectual property counsel Laura Morelli and corporate associate Chloé Huertas from the Paris office. Associates David Henry and Caroline Ruiz Palmer, based in the firm’s Brussels office, handled the global merger filings. The team also included tax partner Antoine Vergnat, and tax associate Romain Desmonts, counsel Matthieu Adam and associate Mathilde Peschard who advised on corporate aspects, and counsel Myrtille Lapuelle, who advised on labor law.
