McDermott Represents Recapture in Terra Nova 1 Project Completion, Part of $100 Million Carbon Removal Platform Strategy in North and South America

Overview

International law firm McDermott Will & Emery represented Recapture, a technology-agnostic and utility-scale carbon removal project developer, in its completion of the Terra Nova One (TN1) Project, part of Recapture’s three-year $100 million project development strategy in North and South America. The TN1 flagship developed in Northern Argentina is a first-of-its-kind utility-scale bio-enhanced afforestation carbon project development that is generating up to 1,000 tons of carbon dioxide removal annually. This project represents a breakthrough in carbon capture and delivers high-impact, scalable and nature-based carbon removal.

Recapture’s 250-million-ton corporate project pipeline is expected to be converted into live projects, with megaton annual removals anticipated by 2028, making TN1 the first of many projects to be developed under the Terra Nova Series™.

The transaction was announced on April 18, 2023.

The McDermott deal team was led by Parker Lee and included Jacob Hollinger, Greg Weigand, Brian Gordon, Ming Lei, Dominique Torsiello and Sarah Sarb.
