New Rules from CMS & ONC - Interoperability & Info Blocking - McDermott

Webinar Series | New Rules from CMS and ONC – Interoperability and Information Blocking

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) released its long awaited final rule adopting exceptions to the Cures Act’s information blocking prohibition and updates to the ONC’s health IT certification program. At the same time, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released a final rule on the related topic of interoperability.

Our experienced team, which includes several former US Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) and HHS Office of Inspector General attorneys, worked with many clients to consider the potential impact of the HHS proposed rules on their businesses and has analyzed the final rules.

If we can help you determine the implications of the final rules for your business, identify opportunities they create and develop practical compliance solutions, please do not hesitate to contact us. In addition, we will release client alerts analyzing the final rules. For more information about HHS’s efforts to encourage coordination of care and innovation, visit our Regulatory Sprint page.

CMS’s final rule requires that CMS-regulated payors implement APIs that allow patient information to be shared more readily among patients, health care providers and payors.
