Overview
Karen S. Sealander focuses her practice on regulatory and government affairs, exclusively in the health sector. She is a highly experienced government relations strategist and advocate with more than two decades of experience. Karen represents some of the country’s largest and most renowned integrated health care delivery systems, professional associations and health information technology companies, among others, in the health sector on federal legislative, regulatory and legal matters.
Karen is a registered lobbyist who is well versed in the politics and in the process of federal health policy. She regularly represents clients before Congress, the US Department of Health and Human Services, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and other federal agencies.
Karen has particular knowledge in matters relating to non-physician providers. She has presented to the National Commission on Allied Health and to the Institute of Medicine Committee on the future of dental education. She has also testified before the US Senate Special Committee on Aging.
Karen has extensive experience formulating and implementing legislative, regulatory and public relations strategies designed to achieve clients’ key business and health policy objectives.
During law school, Karen was a member of the George Washington Law Review. She currently serves as chairman of the Board of Directors of Breast Care for Washington, which is working to reduce breast cancer mortality in the Washington, DC area by promoting access to breast cancer screening, diagnostics and treatment to all women, regardless of their ability to pay.
