International law firm McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that Maris Kandestin has joined the Firm as partner in the Restructuring and Insolvency practice group based in Wilmington. This announcement follows several new partner additions in its corporate practice as the Firm scales to support clients in the shifting economic climate.
“Now more than ever, clients need trusted counsel to provide strategic and innovative solutions to their most complicated and unforeseen problems,” said Tim Walsh, co-chair of the Restructuring and Insolvency group. “Maris has the experience and knowledge to provide clients with the outcomes they need. Given the unique importance of Delaware bankruptcy courts, clients will benefit from Maris’s specialized experience.”
Maris focuses her practice on financial restructuring and represents publicly and privately held multinational companies in numerous industries, including manufacturing, oil and gas, retail, airline, pharmacology, real estate and healthcare. Maris also represents secured lenders, indenture trustees and unsecured creditors and advises clients in out-of-court restructurings.
Maris is the most recent of several new partners joining the Firm and expanding McDermott’s restructuring footprint throughout the US. In the past 6 months, the Firm welcomed Craig Rasile in Miami, David Hurst in New York, Felicia Perlman and Brad Giordano in Chicago and Jeffery Reisner in Los Angeles. The strength of the group positions the Firm to help clients capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risk in what is an increasingly uncertain economy.

Maris earned her BA at Villanova University, her MA from Harvard University and her JD from Pennsylvania State University. Prior to joining McDermott, Maris was Of Counsel at DLA Piper.
