NEW YORK (May 20, 2015) — International law firm McDermott Will & Emery LLP has been recognized as a leading firm in 51 areas in the 2015 edition of Chambers USA. The recognition includes practice rankings in 15 national and 36 state categories. The Firm also preserved its three national Band 1 practice rankings and received seven Band 1 state practice rankings.
For the sixth consecutive year (2010-2015), McDermott’s Health Industry Advisory Practice Group captured a standalone, Band 1 national ranking in the healthcare category. At the national level, Chambers observed that McDermott’s Health practice, “Maintains an impressive national footprint, enabling its representation of a wide-ranging client base. Market-leading transactional expertise is complemented by notable regulatory and litigation strength.”
The Firm’s Private Client practice drew accolades for a ninth consecutive year with a national Band 1 ranking in the Wealth Management category. Chambers wrote that McDermott is an, “Outstanding firm with a fantastic national coverage, offering depth and breadth across the Eastern, Central and Western regions.” The Firm, Chambers said, is “also notable for strong litigation capabilities in the areas of trusts, estates and guardianship.”
Also earning plaudits was McDermott’s Food & Beverages (Alcohol) practice, which received a Band 1 national ranking, a distinction the practice has received since the category’s inception. Chambers characterized the team as an “exceptional practice offering a blend of litigation services and regulatory and distribution expertise in the alcoholic beverages sector. Chambers added that McDermott “draws on expertise in multiple practice areas, including corporate, IP and tax, to provide a fully rounded service.”
Some 141 McDermott lawyers were ranked by Chambers across multiple practice areas, including 11 new lawyer rankings in various practice groups. Additionally, eight Firm lawyers rose a Band in this year’s rankings and nine lawyers received the directory’s highest honors, including Star Individual, Eminent Practitioner and Senior Statesman.
