McDermott Team Appointed to USMCA Binational Panel Roster

Overview

International law firm McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce the selection of two of its lawyers to the 2021-2022 United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) Chapter 10 Binational Panel Roster. The panelists play a critical role in helping resolve trade disputes between the US, Mexico and Canada, while maximizing beneficial outcomes for North American workers, farmers, ranchers and businesses.

The McDermott team appointed to the panel are international trade lawyers Lynn Kamarck and Tim Hruby. The USMCA Secretary is administering 11 ongoing North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) Chapter 19 and USMCA Chapter 10 disputes. These disputes involve more than $7.58 billion in subject merchandise.

“The USMCA dispute process provides an effective forum for resolving complex trade disputes between the US, Canada, and Mexico,” Lynn said. “We are honored to have been selected to play a role in this important process,” Tim added.

NAFTA is an international trade treaty entered into by the United States, Canada and Mexico on January 1, 1994 to create a free trade zone. The USMCA updated and replaced NAFTA on July 1, 2020. Lynn was initially appointed to the roster over 15 years ago and has been reappointed every year with Tim joining her in 2020.
