Schulte represented Blackstone Group LP as a lender to a joint venture of Trinity Investments LLC and Oaktree Capital Management LP for the $317-million purchase of a long-term leasehold interest in The Westin Maui Resort & Spa, a beachfront luxury resort in Hawaii. The transaction — one of the largest hotel mergers and acquisitions matters in April — was completed within only six weeks of signing the purchase agreement despite complex deal considerations, including significant tax challenges.

Real estate partner Julian Wise led the team advising Blackstone Group, which also included associate Ariel Aranda.
